How to Kick The Habit of Cracking Your Back

There are things that we do each day that can irritate our backs. Each day we can contribute to causing more pain to be experienced. There are bad things that we do, so let's go ahead and go over a few things to kick these bad habits and make the days better.

First, do not crack your own back. This gives you a few seconds of relief. What happens is that when you crack your own low back or neck you are taking a non-fixated joint and making it more loose. It is taking something that is already lax and unstable and making it worse. The pain can be relieved for a few seconds or minutes, but then returns worse. This is a very bad habit to have and should be stopped immediatly. The spine moves in a certain way and if it is fixated in an area, then above and below that area can become lax and loose. When you take your hands and crack the area then that makes the area more loose, causing more of a problem. Joints wear out a lot faster if you keep taking it and making it worse. What you would want to to is stablize the area that has too much movement and mobilize the area that does not have enough movement. This can be done with adjustments or manipulations to the fixated areas and stabalization exercises and stretches to the areas that are hypermobile.

This should make sense and if you stop you can help prevent early arthrtitis and bone spur formation. If you get the spine to move properly it can help with pain reduction and less stress over all. Kick the bad habit of cracking your own back and feel better. Sitting or standing around each day getting only seconds and minutes of relief only to have the pain return is not that fun. It makes more sense to fix the problem and spend your days doing something else, and no, biting your nails is not recommended.
