How to Make the Bed When You Have Low Back Pain

Each day we have our daily things that we have to do. When we are young our parents create chores for us and one of those chores is to make the bed. It is looked at as a negative thing when you are kid, but when you get older you appreciate it and are very thankful that you have a clean room and a neat bed. It is also fun to crawl into a clean bed after a fulfilling and adventours day.

Making a bed with back pain is not an easy task because of the position the bed is in. It is about at the level of your waist so you have to bend over in order to straighten out the sheets and put the blanket and the pillows in the correct places. If you have kids then their beds are even lower and can be real difficult to manage when you have low back pain. The best way to make a bed with back pain is to think before you do. So many times we just start doing things without thinking and bending and twisting is not a motion you want to do in this situation. That is the exact motion that can cause a herniated disc and flare up your pain levels beyond what you want them to be. You will want to think the following "bend the knees and keep the back and neck straight". It is kind of weird and uncomfortable, plus it is a lot of work, but the reward will be less back pain and a decreased likelyhood of a flare up or a lumber disc problem.

Take you time when you make the bed, don't rush it. There is plenty of room on the sides of the bed to position yourself where you can bend your knees down. If at all possible make sure to go ahead and get some help when you do it. If you have someone on the other side it can make it go twice as fast and go much easier. It is always good to find out what is causing the low back pain, so make sure and visit your back pain doctor and get a diagnosis and treatment. If you Doctor has an advanced traction machine, non-surgical spinal decompression then your low back might benefit from the treatment.
